As many of you avid fashionistas already know, Marc by Marc Jacobs is no more. The diffusion, lower price point line of Marc Jacobs called it quits last March and final deliveries closed with the end of 2015. So what does this mean for the direction of the Marc Jacobs brand and why did they end the “it girl” line that seemed to be so successful? According to Jacobs himself, “It just feels like we aren’t doing that job of showing two different collections with two different messages.” Instead of spreading themselves in two separate directions, they will focus on unifying the brands and creating a more cohesive collection. As for the price point of the new direction of Marc Jacobs, their will be two distinct groups. The contemporary group will have moderately priced products, which will be consistent with the Marc by Marc Jacobs old pricing strategy. Then, there will be the luxury group that will have your higher priced products with of course higher quality materials. Regardless of the pricing level however, every product will have the same Marc Jacobs label.
Upon hearing of this new split pricing strategy, we were a little worried about what it would do to the perception of the brand and what the quality level of the contemporary line, which we would be carrying, would be. Well after months of anticipation and speculation, the first delivery for Spring has arrived…and we love it!
Stop by soon to check out the awesome collection & other spring deliveries!
