For fashionistas around the world, February brings love in all forms. Sure for some, this month is known as being a time of sweet blissful love during the culturally significant Valentine’s Day. But more than that to the fashion savvy women of the world, it means the dawn of a new fashion season! New York Fashion Week inspires and delights with its fresh trend and innovative designs. So while you may have been basking in the warm glow of the romantic season, I was doing my homework to report to you all on the latest and greatest trends we saw at New York Fashion Week!
What better place to start than with the whimsically romantic and delightfully delicate brand of Rebecca Taylor. Known for her exquisite use of pattern and Victorian lace, this Fall 2016 season tugs at the heart strings even more than usual. Taking inspiration from her late “second grandmother”, Taylor incorporates vintage filigree and floral patterns into her tissue thin blouses and turtlenecks. Drawing further inspiration from her late grandmother’s professional life as a colorist and print designer, Taylor’s strongest piece was undoubtedly a velvet floral printed blazer that is reminiscent of the 1940s nipped waist era. When asked to elaborate on this defining piece Taylor explains that the blazer reminded her of little blazer suits that her “mum” dressed her up in as a child.
